Corporate social responsibility managers are responsible for defining and developing the strategies which underpin a company’s CSR objectives. They conduct research, come up with ideas, develop policies, create detailed plans, build relationships with partner organizations, and then implement and coordinate a range of activities and initiatives which are designed to have a positive impact on the environment and local communities.

Directors of Responsible Souring Strategy are responsible for assessing industry standards for best-in-class social responsibility strategies, identifying emerging or escalating raw materials that are facing social responsibility issues and work with CSR to design programs in line with these to meet corporate goals. They’re also responsible for creating, with R&D, a strategy on biodiversity, including material review and tracking protocols and keeping up to date on industry regulatory and social responsibility trends.

Environmental Sustainability is a state in which the demands placed on the environment can be met without reducing its capacity to allow all people to live well, now and in the future.

An Ethical Trade Manager makes sure our products are sourced ethically. They look at what kind of problems their suppliers face, and try to improve labor conditions. They interview people one-to-one, on a confidential basis, about things like working hours, minimum working age, wages, childcare, safety and hygiene. It’s called a “social audit.” Then they we work out an action plan.

Carry out the day to day operations of HSE department and contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety and Environmental management by providing technical support.

Uses a variety of research methods to analyze and provide recommendations for corporate sustainability projects and programs. Stays abreast of trends in renewable resources, sustainable work processes, and environmental science in order to ensure proper sustainability benchmarks are established and maintained. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.

A sustainability consultant is someone who gives advice to businesses on how to make their products as sustainable (usually in an ecological sense) as is required or requested.

A sustainability officer (often referred to as a CSO, or chief sustainability officer) is someone who will analyze and predict a company or institution’s future outlook, present stability, and environmental impact.

Sustainability managers ensure that their company upholds and works towards finding new, innovative, and economically reductive ways to stay green. You will be in charge of developing, implementing, and monitoring company or organizational environmental strategies.
